源氏の重宝。試し斬りで罪人の首を斬った際に、髭まで切れたことが名の由来とされる。長い年月を経て大抵のことはどうでもよくなったとおおらかに語る。 が、どうでもよくなってはいけないことまで忘れてしまっているような……。

One of the Genji’s* treasured possessions. The blade earned its name** when it was tested on a criminal and cut through not only his neck, but his beard as well. After many years, this sword speaks calmly and maintains a carefree attitude towards most things. However, this attitude seems to make him forgetful about things that probably shouldn’t be treated so lightly…

源氏の重宝。試し斬りで罪人を斬った際に、両膝まで一刀で断ったことが名の由来とされる。時折兄である髭切に忘れられて絶望するが、すぐに立ち直る。長い年月、失意を繰り返すとさすがに復帰も早いらしい。

One of the Genji’s treasured possessions. The blade earned its name when it was tested on a criminal and cut both of his knees with one strike. At times, he’ll fall into despair when Higekiri forgets about him, but he’ll quickly recover afterwards. After many years, repeated disappointments seem to have made his comebacks shorter.
